Reading allows the development of skills related to thinking, understanding, imagination and creativity; but it is also a means to obtain satisfactions, emotions and joys. To get to this point, it is essential to cultivate reading motivation from an early age. For this reason, the first years of school are key to providing motivating and lively activities that arouse children's interest in discovering the book and practicing reading it. Under this framework, this Professional Sufficiency Work details the significant teaching experience based on the application of playful strategies to promote books and reading in primary school students from the school library. In this sense, the stated objectives are to describe the significant teaching experience, reflect on said experience and analyze the professional performance evidenced based on the competencies acquired in the PUCP Faculty of Education. For this, the methodology used is reflective narration, which is developed through different stages in order to carry out a pedagogical reflection on the educational actions carried out in the experience and on the professional performance evidenced in this process. At the end of the work, it is concluded that teacher training has been essential for the application of playful strategies for the promotion of books and reading from the school library. Likewise, the importance of teaching reflection during practice is highlighted, because it allows the recognition of strengths and weaknesses, with the aim of proposing future improvements in the well-being of our students.
