The main objective of this research is to analyze the criteria used by teachers in the proposal of children's stories aimed at four-year-old children in the context of distance education, in a public institution at the early childhood level. Therefore, the criteria used by teachers before choosing and proposing a children's story are explained. The interest in developing this research arises from the learning of the Children's Literature course and the experiences lived in the assistantships during my professional training, where I participated in reading practices, which is why I was interested in the relevance of making visible the selection criteria of the stories. The development of the theoretical framework facilitates the study of the selection criteria for children's stories. In addition, it shows their use as a didactic resource and the criteria recommended before proposing them. On the other hand, it contextualizes the current distance education scenario, the agents involved, the I learn at home platform and the literary collections proposed. The research is qualitative, descriptive, and the techniques used to collect information were the documentary analysis and the focus group. As a result, it is concluded that the teachers have established selection criteria in their proposals, they also have knowledge about children's literature, they use the story as an indispensable resource in their pedagogical practice and they are aware of the benefits of its use in the integral development of children.
