This research work proposes to make predictions of tonnages and ore grades of a mining project with the use of Matlab programs, it is a free software in the internet networks and according to the JORC code classify them in measured resources, indicated resources and inferred resources applying the criteria of Diehl & David (1982), the results obtained by using Matlab will be made a quantitative comparison to the results obtained by using a commercial program such as MinePlan 3D, With the support of a professional experienced in the use of this program, this mining software circulates in the market with high prices, as well as MinePlan 3D there are also other softwares that have geostatistical applications such as Vulcan, Gems, Micromine, Leapfrog, ISATIS, but all these softwares have acquisition costs, maintenance and training that easily exceed 50,000 U.S. dollars. A mining company has the budget to be able to acquire the program it sees fit and fulfill its work of resource prediction or otherwise hire specialist consultants in the field to simplify the work. But junior companies, independent workers, small-scale consulting companies, do not have sufficient budgets to acquire the licenses of these programs to be able to predict their mining resources, so therein lies the problem. But, if a free program like Matlab can perform this type of work with an acceptable confidence in the prediction of mining resources, and its subsequent classification, through dynamic and simple to use methodologies, this program would be an alternative solution for these junior companies, independent workers, consultants, universities.
