Likewise, we interviewed education specialists, principal, currently mentoring teachers and students from 3th and 4th high, between 13 and 15 years, whose testimonies are analyzed and contrasted with the observation of mentoring sessions and other spaces of student involvement (school play, student organizations, journalism school and dances). The results found allow us to open the discussion about the contrast between the approach of participation from the official perspective and the applied in public schools, the differentiated perception of teachers and students about what participation means and the overvaluation of a form of student participation linked to the achievement of a particular profile of student leaders.
