The present thesis consists of carrying out the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of mitigation alternatives against floods and landslides in the Santa Eulalia sub-basin, Rimac River basin. Due to the lack of hydraulic infrastructure that mitigates this problem in the country, government entities have carried out studies that support control measures for the damage caused by these events. However, as these are emergency projects whose priority is the life, safety and integrity of the affected population, they do not include an elaborate EIA. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is to carry out the EIA of the mitigation alternatives of the project: “Creación e Implementación de Medidas de Protección y de Prevención para el Control de Desborde e Inundaciones de los Ríos Santa Eulalia y Rímac en los tramos: Progresiva 0 + 000 Km a 11 + 500 Km del Rio Santa Eulalia y Progresiva 56+000 Km a 65 + 500 Km del Rio Rímac en los Distritos de Santa Eulalia y Ricardo Palma de la Provincia de Huarochirí – Departamento de Lima. CUI 2430402” and define the most optimal mitigation alternative from an environmental perspective. The methodology used is governed by a matrix approach based on international standards, tools recommended by various authors and results of similar studies. The results obtained show that activities that involve earthworks are those that generate the greatest environmental impact and the biological and perceptual environmental factors are the ones that receive the greatest impact during the construction stage. Furthermore, the global environmental impact values of each mitigation alternative define the rockfill revetment alternative as the best option in environmental terms. Finally, the high degree of reliability of the proposed methodology is discussed based on the comparison of the results obtained with those presented in other similar studies. Keywords: Environmental impact assessment, matrix methodological approach, qualitative and quantitative aspects.
