The present study aimed to determine the relationship between binge-watching and symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression in students of a private university in Metropolitan Lima. For this purpose, 172 university students, 57.6% women, and 42.4% men, between 18 and 25 years of age (M = 20.24; SD = 1.79) were interviewed. They answered a questionnaire that included questions about their series viewing patterns, as well as the Binge-Watching Engagement and Symptoms Questionnaire (BWESQ) and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). Correlations were found between the study variables, coinciding with what has been suggested by the literature: binge-watching as a way of coping with symptomatologies. This finding is relevant because the link between these variables evidences the need to take binge-watching into consideration in future studies. Likewise, no significant differences were found according to the sex of the participants in any of the study variables. Similarly, the scores for the symptomatologies did not vary according to the academic cycle. This could indicate that the pandemic has affected the entire university population indistinctly. On the other hand, differences were found according to the academic cycle in five dimensions of binge-watching, mainly pertaining to non-problematic binge-watching. In this regard, it is possible that this behavior is being used as a leisure activity, mainly by university students in higher education, who, being more adapted to university, could have more time for relaxation.
