The appearance of COVID-19 has brought about profound changes in the way people work, since a large part of them have been forced to do remote work. In this sense, the educational sector has been notoriously affected due to the provision of online classes, forcing teachers to move towards this new form of teaching, for which many were not prepared. The purpose of this research is to identify the determining factors that affect teacher commitment, due to the radical change towards online classes; under a qualitative and phenomenological approach. For this purpose, based on theory, the factors that influence the formation of teacher commitment were determined and the dimensions or types of commitment were identified, which vary according to the context in which they develop their work. 22 interviews were conducted with high school teachers in Metropolitan Lima who teach online classes. To achieve the proposed, the information collected was analyzed and the results suggested that in most cases the commitment of teachers revolves around their students, which transcends the scope of the classes. In addition, it was identified that the personal factor, concern for the students; the professional factor, policies that motivate; and the contextual factor, companionship, are those that have the greatest impact on teachers' commitment. The report of this research is to provide knowledge regarding the factors that affect teacher engagement, in a special context of a pandemic. Likewise, the results may be very useful for the areas that manage human talent in the education sector, because this type of teaching is here to stay.
