According to INEI's 2014 Yearbook of Environmental Statistics, Lurigancho-Chosica, Lima province, is the district with the highest increase in per capita solid waste generation. In this district where the Association of Owners and Residents of the San Antonio de Carapongo Urbanization (APUSAC) was identified, despite its proximity to one of the main collection centers in the district - Suka Ecological System - its actions are not oriented towards a recycling culture to promote a third life for its usable solid waste. Within the objectives of the research, we consider analyzing, in the first place, the perceptions of APUSAC's neighbors about the recycling culture, as well as the relationship between this target population and the actors that exercise leadership over the segregation of usable solid waste. The main hypothesis is based on the fact that the neighbors of APUSAC have a scarce recycling culture, since they do not know about certain practices such as the segregation of solid waste and the end of its u seful life, and they do not relate with actors that promote or lead actions on recycling in the area. Therefore, the research method applied is ethnography, from which activities are proposed that aim to 1) generate knowledge in the neighbors about the proper process of segregation of solid waste, its recyclability and recycling chain, 2) encourage recycling practices in the neighbors and 3) the neighbors of APUSAC and Suka Ecological System create an ecosystem based on a culture of recycling. Thus, through the application of a pilot project with some activities, it is concluded that the APUSAC neighbors, by obtaining knowledge about the correct separation of usable solid waste, interacting with various actors in the recycling chain in their environment, and obtaining incentives that motivate their participation, can carry out practices aimed at the development of a recycling culture in their community.
