The Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito Cusco (Caja Cusco SA), is a micro financial company, which was created under Decree Law No. 23039 on May 14, 1980, after 32 years of operations on loans and savings, has reached a presence in 13 regions of Peru. The microfinance sector is characterized by being a highly competitive sector, where the main microfinance companies have positioned themselves through a greater participation in direct credits; This is how Caja Cusco, by the end of October 2020, has managed to position itself as the fourth best microfinance institution with an average participation in the last three years of 13.17% and a credit balance of 3,964,372 thousand soles, thus maintaining an annualized profit that is above the average of the companies of the Municipal Savings Bank micro-financial system. In this sense, the Business Consulting Group carried out the analysis of the company and the performance within the mirofinancial system, operational and strategic level, so the percentage of participation of Caja Cusco was identified as the main problem, which has ranked the company as the fourth microfinance institution in the last three years. Within the proposed solution, it has been proposed to implement a strategy that allows Caja Cusco to position itself as the third best microfinance entity within the next three years. The strategy developed raises four main objectives that are aligned to increase the added economic value of the company, increase participation in direct loans, improve business processes and improve staff capacities, these being the main long-term objectives.
