The aim of this explorative qualitative research is identifying the digital tools used in the human resources processes from private companies national wide. Each private company has a human resources area where different processes are managed. The human resources professionals who were interviewed for this investigation are responsible for at least one process. For seeking information, a structured interview was conducted based on five topics such as: the role of the human resources professionals, which processes they manage, the digital tools they use, the benefits and efficient practices of using those tools. As research outcome, a variety of digital tools per human resources processes were identified, as well as the advantages and shortcoming of using them. Likewise, the positive perception of human resources professionals about their digital tools experience is demonstrated, which allows them to perform an efficient role. Furthermore, the essential competencies that professionals experienced in human resources must have for an efficient digital tools usage were identified. Finally, based on the preliminary results, a proposal was developed to guide the leaders of the organizations to choose a digital tool that matches to their needs, analyzing time and cost of each one for implementation.
