The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the history of humanity forever, having severe socioeconomic consequences that still continue to the moment this paper is being written. Latin America has been disproportionately affected, alongside Peru which has the highest mortality rate per capita. Despite of being in a context of a continuous economic growth for the last two decades, represented by positive PBI growth rates and negative poverty rates. In households, exogenous shocks, like the pandemic, have an immediate effect on income, due to changes in the condition or level of employment, which leads to a fall in consumption and a higher risk of falling into poverty. Given the empirical evidence, socioeconomic status determines the degree of the pandemic impact on households, as well as sociodemographic characteristics such as area, sex of the household head, age and education level. In this manner, the question to be answered is: ¿How much is the difference in the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on households of the department of Lima, given their socioeconomic status and sociodemographic characteristics? In order to estimate it, this paper considers a Pooled OLS regression model, with database provided by ENAHO to the years 2019 and 2020.
