The present work was developed in view of the problems faced by the managers of the mining sector in charge of the disposal of environmental liabilities (tailings), which are generated during mining production; Therefore, they seek in some way an innovative use that generates its reuse; since disposing them in the usual way does not generate value, on the contrary, it harms the health of the people who live near the exploitation area. That is why the idea of producing “modular ecological bricks of the LEGO type built from mine tailings“ is presented as a solution for mining companies that need to dispose of said tailings, since by law and social responsibility they must do something to regard. Thus, as part of the study, we demonstrated that our product is as resistant or more resistant than traditional clay bricks, and that these are not harmful to people's health. It is for this reason that we captured the interest of the mining company Nyrstar Ancash SA (Nyrstar), who would be the first client, since this company is promoting the construction of an Ecotourism Hotel and social housing that could well be built using our product. Finally, according to the financial analysis, it was determined that the business model presents a positive Net Present Value (NPV) of $ 1,099,461.12 and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 136%; added to a projected social NPV for five years of $ 8,347,668.73, being a contribution to SDG 15 and SDG 17, with a Social Relevance Index (IRS) of 16% and 5.3% respectively. Then, the business model is economically profitable and sustainable, reaching the conclusion that the production of modular ecological bricks of the LEGO type built from mine tailings is feasible, viable and sustainable.
