moral y ciudadana.
This research aims to explore the moral identity and sense of purpose in a group of Peruvian firefighters. Thus, the current study was made under a qualitative approach and 5 participants were interviewed, using deep interviews based on a semi-structural guidance as an information gathering technic. Main results showed that in most interviewees, prosocial traits predominate, whereas only one participant has developed moral traits. Furthermore, most of the participants had developed a sense of noble purpose, because their life goals go around helping others. In this sense, it is possible to observe how different factors like family, previous experiences in community service, school and religion had been able to influence their prosocial and moral development. The results also discuss the contribution that volunteering programs have in moral and civic education.
