The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of perfectionism and the cognitive emotion regulation strategies on a sample of 289 students from a private university in Lima. For this purpose, 195 women (67.5%) and 94 men (32.5%) between the ages of 18 and 30 (M = 21.18; DE = 1.91), who belonged to the faculties of Psychology (29.4%), Management (34.3%), and Law (36.3%), participated. The spanish version of the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) (Rodríguez et al., 2009) and the peruvian adaptation of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) (Domínguez & Medrano, 2016) were used for the measurement. The dimensions of self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism were significantly and positively related to the strategies of self-blaming, rumination, catastrophizing and blaming others, and negatively related to positive reappraisal and positive refocusing. In addition, only the socially prescribed perfectionism was negatively related to the refocus on planning strategy. Regarding the other-oriented perfectionism dimension, it was found a significant and positive relationship with the refocus on planning tendency. Finally, there were significant differences according to some sociodemographic and academic variables. The possible explanations of these findings are discussed, as well as the limitations of the present study and the future lines of research to follow.
