The present State of Art covers as its main topic the assessment of musical education. This is why the proposed objective is to analyze the elements that are considered within this assessment at the primary level. The methodology consists of a documentary analysis-type study, within which sources such as academic articles, school curricula and others, stand out. The established limit of years is a maximum of twenty years in advance, since it is about collecting the most current research that takes account of the closest context to the students. This work addresses three sections, within which there are also some subtopics. The first section presents the competences included in the assessment, within which are subtopics such as the development of creativity, interpretation and respect for musical activity. The second section works on the contents included in the assessment such as musical language, rhythm and solfeggio. Finally, the third section addresses the assessment process, within which the aspects to be taken into account during the evaluation process and the evaluation instruments are covered as subtopics. The main findings of this research point to a clear trend that highlights creativity and musical language as the main competence and content to be developed respectively. Likewise, the importance of establishing clear and relevant evaluation criteria is highlighted so that students can understand what is expected of them.
