This research aimed to analyze the way in which colorist racism is presented in the advertising discourse of the covers of the magazine Cosas Peru, that were published in the period from January to September of 2020; as it is one of the main traditional printed media that persist in reinforcing discriminatory racist patterns and stereotypes. Furthermore, it was proposed to identify, interpret and compare the visual elements that compose each of the eleven covers of the study, taking as a reference the aspects stated by González Martín (1996) for the advertising language analysis. In addition, to verify how the social context is relevant within the selection process of the characters starred in the covers. The results allowed to conclude, in the first place, that the covers represent a visual space where the racial stereotype is still evident and that -in general- they reproduce a correlation liaison between skin tone and positions of power or popularity. Secondly, they responded to an effective aesthetic and advertising functionality; in order to consolidate the style and concept the publishing house conveys to its public, as well as to be a vital factor to motivate its acquisition.
