Descriptive - Explanatory, quantitative and non-experimental design investigation was used to determine the influence of viscous fluid dissipators on the structural response of a building to which a change from common to essential use will be made to be used as health center without internment (Category III). For the sample, a building with seven levels and four basements with a constructed area of 5,898 m2 located in the district of Jesús María, department of Lima, was taken as a reference. The study was carried out from the pre-dimensioning stage of the structural elements to the seismic analysis and design phase without dissipators, then a seismic damping system was incorporated and it was verified that it both influences the structural response of the building, as an instrument of Data collection, a technical sheet prepared by the thesis student and validated by expert judgment was used, the results indicate that a system of viscous fluid dissipators reduces drifts, shear forces, mezzanine accelerations, and reduces the input energy by 45%.
