ABSTRACT The compacted adobe is still under investigations which seek to improve the characteristics and strength of this building material, as in the case of this investigation, in which vegetable fiber was used to evaluate the results of this addition. The objective of this research was to evaluate the addition of chip and sawdust Eucalyptus percentage 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5% in the mechanical and physical properties of compacted mud in order to diagnose their advantages and disadvantages in the development of these. It hypothesized that the addition of Eucalyptus chips, and sawdust, in percentages of 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5%, in the compacted mud, improved mechanical properties, in compression strength up to 5% in flexural resistance arose up to 10%, and maintains its physical property of resistance to water absorption. Made it: A total of 140 bricks compacted with various percentages of addition of vegetable fiber were produced. Of which 42 units compression (halves), units 42 and 42 by bending water absorption were tested. The results were that adding eucalyptus chip rates 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5%, obtained a compression strength of 28.04 kg/cm2 ,29.79 kg/cm2 and 30.94 kg/cm2 respectively. As for the flexural strength added to the Eucalyptus chip rates 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5%, a strength of 20.67 kg/cm2 19.38 kg/cm2 y 23.34 kg/cm2 was obtained, respectively. And adding sawdust Eucalyptus with percentages 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5%, a flexion strength of 18.06 kg/cm2 9.81 kg/cm2 y 12.48 kg/cm2 respectively was achieved. Finally for the physical property of water absorption of the bricks with addition of eucalyptus chips with percentages of 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5% result obtained 19.36%, 20.15% and 20.95% respectively. However, the bricks with addition of sawdust Eucalyptus with percentages of 1.5%, 3.0% and 4.5% made as a result 16.99%, 17.75% and 18.35% respectivel.
