ABSTRACT Cajamarca is the most important city of the north highlands of Peru and it is known principally because in 1532 the Spanish captured the Inca Atahualpa, during this time the main temples and convents of Baroque style that today can be seen in the historic center of the city were built, as the Cathedral, the Convent of San Francisco, the Monumental Set of Belen and the Convent of the Recoleta. Of the epoch of the Cologne also large houses and buildings stay, principally in the monumental area of Cajamarca. In this Thesis work there is done a study of the seismic vulnerability of a historical hereditary construction of adobe, Large house Espinach – Former City Hall of the City of Cajamarca. This large house was considered to be representative for the investigation because it is a structure that still survives for 275 years, of which similar evaluations have not been done, therefore it is not known to true science what its current state is, although it is presumed that it is good, due to its conservation and stability in the present. The large house presents problems like filtrations, small fissures and wear of the materials that shape it, nevertheless it still does not present visible structural damages, before the occurrence of diverse happened earthquakes, so it is important to have a probabilistic view of their behavior in the future seismic event. The methodological proposal presented in this Thesis, It is referred to the evaluation of seismic vulnerability, through evaluation sheets and the modeling of the structure in the structural analysis program SAP 2000 V. 17.2, this analysis will give an approach to the behavior and level of vulnerability of the large house in analysis. The document outlined: a broad state of knowledge, studies in different countries on heritage, previous studies, mechanical properties and field testing and based on the methodology proposed by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, with the development of the evaluation form and the modeling of the structure it was determined that the Large house Espinach - EX Palacio Municipal de Cajamarca has high seismic vulnerability.
