The elaboration of the present thesis aims to determine the impact of an improvement proposal in the panel production area of a metalworking company located in the city of Trujillo in 2019, dedicated to the manufacture of shelves, that reduces operating cost overruns. To that end, it was necessary to prepare an analysis of the current situation of the company to identify the problems, therefore an Ishikawa Diagram was made with the root causes of each problem. Afterwards, an analysis was carried out using an indicators board that will help to find the monetization of the losses caused by these problems. The cost of the root causes adds up to a total of S /. 14,398.16 per month. The improvement proposal was developed to reduce the costs found in the root causes, in which the following Industrial Engineering tools were used: Material Requirement Plan (MRP II), OWAS Method and Training Plan. The development of these tools would generate a profit of S / 11,062.54 per semester. Finally, an economic and financial analysis is presented, which will allow to obtain the economic indicators necessary to know if the proposal is viable for the company. Having that stated, the proposal manages to reduce cost overruns to S/ 3,335.62 and with respect to financial indicators it has a NPV of S / 48,180.14, IRR of 176% and a Benefit / Cost of 1.95.
