There is the problem of premature wear on the brakes of the Caterpillar M Series motor grader, which is necessary for a better maintenance of the useful life, in this sense. The oil analysis technique ISO 4406 with the purpose of controlling the solid particles suspended in the engine oil in the engine of the M series of caterpillar. In the analysis of the failure is determined the seal of the brakes of the motor grader has failed due to the concentration of the particles suspended in the oil of the tandem, this is found with the help of the analysis of the 5 why. In the analysis of cause effect (Ishikawa), it is identified: The system of accumulation of solid particles. Unknown maintenance personnel that a dialysate system extends the service life of the oil benefiting brake care. Planning has not defined a program to verify the proper functioning of the brake system. Apply the particle counter method in order to control solid particles. Applying the technique of oil analysis and ISO4406, we can affirm that the components are complying with the useful life indicated by the manufacturer, exceeding in some cases the recommended hours. Applying a tandem oil filtering system extends the useful life of oil use from 500 hours to 2000 working hours, the oil is currently recommended by the manufacturer. The dialysis frequency of the oil is determined every 250 working hours, the particle counter, the oil does not show only solids particles in suspension which caused damage to the brake components. The quantitative way of applying the system of eliminating oil to reduce annual costs is verified, we can affirm that the annual cost reduction is 64%.
