Inventory management is essential in any organization because it contributes to make the most of the investment in inventories, keeping them under the required conditions and quantities, to avoid overstocks as well as out-of-stocks, to reduce costs of storage and possession of inventories; and also it is crucial because it has an impact on the financial and economic situation of enterprises. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the influence of inventory management on financial and economic situation of the company Repuestos Miguelitos SAC during 2015. Developing this investigation consisted of diagnosing the inventory management of this company, based on the data obtained in the interviews applied to the General Manager and the Head of the Warehouse, evaluating the financial and economic situation, through an analysis of the Statement of Financial Position and Income Statement, as well as financial ratios related to inventory management; and analyzing the financial costs and economic expenses that come from inventory management. Throughout the analysis period, the authors of this thesis determined that the financial impact of inventory management consisted of the opportunity cost of capital closely related to the inventories of minimal or no rotation and the financial cost of not owning items in stock at the time of the sale, while economic impact consisted of storage expenses of the inventories of minimal or no rotation, freight charges for returning the excess merchandises, and economic losses due to missing inventories. Based on these results, the authors of this thesis conclude that inventory management has a considerable impact on the financial and economic situation of the company Repuestos Miguelitos SAC.
