The main purpose of this research work was to apply method-engineering tools to improve the process of painting metal chairs and folders to increase productivity in a furniture company. First, suggestions were made to customers for the rejections that occurred in opportunities. In this way, using the Pareto diagram, each suggestion could be analyzed in detail, identifying the possible defects that have generated the rejections; the Ishikawa diagram was used to find the causes that have generated the problems. With the aforementioned, it was possible to identify that the causes of the problem were related to the painting area. Second, an initial diagnosis of the painting area was made; recording the operations that were occurring with the use of liquid paint, the process flow of the area was evaluated, analyzing the route that was carried out for each operation. From this diagnosis was made the flow diagram of operations and route diagram, with the two methods applied it was possible to make the process activity diagram (DAP) and then the ABC costing was done to know the costs generated by each activity . Third, a new painting system was proposed that would reduce the costs and time spent during the process. To do this, the engineering methods were applied again with the new proposed system, a new activity diagram of the process was elaborated to enhance a new ABC costing with the improvements made, with which it was determined that by applying the proposal it is possible to reduce the times and the cost of the painting area. This will also reduce the defects caused by liquid paint. Finally, the implementation of electrostatic painting manages to reduce the costs and times of each activity during the process, resulting in a reduction of time of 59 minutes and a cost of S / .30.34 per painting process of 24 chairs. The time that has been reduced between the folder painting process is 53 minutes and a cost of S /. 54.00 which indicates that reducing the time of the activities will increase the amount of chairs and folders painted during the work shift; a net present value (NPV) of S / .91462.33 is obtained and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) obtained is 85.57% and a Benefit-cost of 1.70, therefore it is said that the project is viable and will improve the profit of the company.
