The present investigation of exploratory - descriptive type, with a non-experimental design, quantitative approach and of transversal application; measured the levels of work stress in teachers of an Institution specialized in the teaching of the English language, during the social isolation caused by COVID-19. With this, the institutions were forced to implement virtual teaching in a period of approximately two months, highlighting the deficiencies of a technological platform and management of distance education. Teachers could be subject to non-renewal of contract or postponement of employment, if they do not meet the requirements; generating conditions for the presence of work stress. The population consisted of 70 teachers belonging to the same branch; of which 40 individuals of both sexes were randomly chosen. The instruments used were the Peruvian adaptation of the ILO-WHO Occupational Stress Scale, which measured the global and dimensional perception of stress, and a sociodemographic data questionnaire. It was concluded that there is a predominance of Low level of stress in teachers, both globally (87.5%,), dimensionally (97.5% in “Superiors and Resources“ and 95% in “Organization and team“) and, in relation to to sociodemographic factors (88.2% in gender, 89.4% in age, 90.8% in education level, 87.3% in marital status, 90.9% in number of children, 88.2% in family composition, and 83.5% in family member vulnerable to COVID- 19). Only 10% (4 teachers) obtained a High Average and 1 reached a High level of stress, both categories constituted by women. 9 contexts were also identified that are occasionally sources of a Low and High Average level of stress, and are associated with Organizational Structure, Group Cohesion and Support, Organizational territory, Technology and Organizational Climate.
