The current research work begins with the existence of fuel trading companies such as Santa Ursula gas station, which operate without taking into account policies and procedures to develop a good environmental management, working in an empirically way, which makes it vulnerable. The methodology applied was experimental quantitative, having 12 workers of the area of operations as a sample. A technique, a survey, was used and the instrument was the questionnaire. To validate the questionnaire, the Kuder Richardson statistical reliability test was used, whose quotient was 0.824, being “acceptable“. The development began with the characterization and quantification of the waste in order to collect exact data that allows the researcher to work on an improvement proposal. It was identified that the main reason that causes the generation of hazardous solid waste is the fuel spills that occur in the supply and that the waste is segregated along with the municipal ones. Consequently, a procedure was developed accompanied by training and awareness, with the intention of implementing it and re-measuring the results. Finally, it was concluded that with the implementation of the procedure “containment of fuel spills“ to the supply process, the generation of hazardous solid waste was reduced.
