ABSTRACT This research is about home automation, aimed at reducing energy consumption in the departments of the city of Trujillo. This work shows that it is possible to reduce electrical consumption by implementing a home automation system using an Android mobile application and an Arm architectural computer - Raspberry Pi. This home automation system has a centralized design, in this a computer Raspbery Pi fulfills the task of server to control lighting devices of the departments in a building. Communication between Raspberry Pi and lighting devices is done wirelessly, sending data frames by radio-frequency transmitter / receiver circuits. These signals are processed by microprocessors programmed to detect a command to turn on or off a relay installed in a lighting device. Finally, the Raspberry Pi device is aware of the power on or off orders made from a mobile application. This application communicates with a remote database to check if a lighting device is on or off, then decides to change the state of a device by recording this action in the database, then the Raspberry Pi device detects this change of State and communicates this action to a device. It was concluded with achievement of electric energy consumption's reduction by 33.23% after applying the system in the chosen departments. In addition, the average amount of monthly electricity consumption was reduced by 29.53%.
