This thesis proposes an improvement in maintenance management based on a model based on three factors where we intend to influence one of them, which is the maintenance the machine receives during its service life through maintenance management, directly affecting two intervening variables that are maintainability through the MTTR indicator (average time to repair) and reliability through the MTBF indicator (average time between failures), with the control over these two variables will increase the mechanical availability of the equipment reducing the costs and this will directly impact the productivity of the mineral drilling company in Peru. This research work was carried out in the area of equipment maintenance in June 2016 given that there was a problem (poor communication between the areas involved in the maintenance management process, confusion in the maintenance members' roles, lack of of space to carry out repairs in the workshop, lack of quality control in repairs in the workshop, lack of technical information, cost overruns for corrective attention in the projects, technical ignorance of the equipment, etc.); All this affected the availability of drilling rigs that had high maintenance costs, identifying the bottlenecks in maintenance processes as well as in the areas that directly support maintenance management. In order to solve this problem, management tools and methodologies such as Ishikawa, Pareto, 5Ss, the five of them, process management and the Deming cycle have all been made possible with the support of conceptual information related to improvement. Continues in the processes as well as the experience obtained in corporate companies where there is a strong support to the processes, we proceeded to make a comprehensive diagnosis based on the historical and current situation of the maintenance area, after which a plan of action whose starting point is the redefinition of an organization chart based on processes, to then implement planning tools for human resources, materials and spare parts, includes the redistribution of the workshop, 5Ss, training of maintenance and operations personnel, and implementation of the best maintenance practices. The results that are predicted with this proposal are: • Increase equipment availability by 4% • Reduce the MTTR by 20%. • Improve the MTBF from 40 to 80 hours in the projects. • Reduce maintenance costs in a healthy and stable range (without abrupt changes or peaks in the year).
