The investigation was carried out in order to establish the influence of Safety Management System (SMS) in air accidents of aviation companies operating in Peru under RAP 121; Because currently the implementation of this system is a regulatory requirement for the compliance of aviation companies. With the proposed objective, it has been identified and described that only 22% of commercial aviation companies operating in Peru under RAP 121 have completed the implementation of SMS until 2018. On the other hand, it was possible to determine the air accident rates in Peru from 2010 to 2018, which were compared with accident rates worldwide, based on data obtained from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the documentary analysis carried out, where a gradual reduction in the accident rates can be seen since 2011, both in Peru and worldwide Finally, it was concluded that the Safety Management System not only influences on airplane accident rates based on the revised theory, but also influences on many aspects in the organization such as: improvement in the company image, avoid cancellations and / or flight rescheduling due to accidents, insurance costs, among others.
