Currently, topography has undergone significant developments, with techniques and instruments that allow direct or indirect measurements of the earth's surface to be made more quickly and obtaining increasingly accurate and reliable results. The objective of the research was to evaluate the difference in time, precision and cost of two direct methods of topographic surveys with the RPA method and the total station. The field work was carried out by collecting data, which were processed with the pix4d mapper software, where the point cloud, orthophoto, digital elevation model and surface with contour lines were obtained. After that, the information previously obtained with the use of AutoCAD Civil 3d software was processed to obtain the points and their comparison. The research work was of an applied type due to the fact that it focuses on finding mechanisms to obtain quantitative data and to be able to buy them. The sample is in the Venezuela de Ayacucho sports complex of 7.5 Has. As results, it was evidenced that the topographic survey with RPA had a tolerance of less than -0.066 m with respect to the total station. In addition, it presented a better economic feasibility by 11.98% compared to the total station, with respect to time, a decrease in the execution schedule of up to 60% was determined compared to the total station survey. It is concluded that the topographic survey method with RPA has an acceptable precision for this type of survey, the cost obtained was lower and the time was shorter compared to the topographic survey with total station.
