Climate change considerably harms our planet and the capture of carbon in plant biomass surge as an option to reduce the effects. The objective of the research is to quantify the carbon stored in the herbaceous biomass of two routes of the Lachay National Reserve during the wet season, 2018. This study was carried out in the routes of La Tara and Palillo, which was segmented into four sectors (I, II, III and IV) and each sector was made up of three plots with dimensions of 1x1m (1m2). To obtain the biomass, all the grasses found within each plot were cut at ground level and their fresh and dry weight was determined. To obtain the amount of carbon stored, the herbaceous biomass in t / ha was multiplied by a factor of 0.5. The results indicate that the amount of carbon in the herbaceous biomass in the Tara route was 1,346 tC / ha and in the Palillo route it was 0.373 tC / ha.
