The purpose of this study is to determine if there are differences regarding anxiety between adult hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and adults with COVID-19 discharged from a hospital, from a sample of 610 patients from a private health facility in Lima Metropolitana during 2021, with ages ranging from 18 to 59 years. Thus, a research with a quantitative approach, with a descriptive - comparative scope of a descriptive cross-section. The CAS instrument in Spanish was used to measuring anxiety in the face of COVID-19. The results confirm that there is significantly (p = .000) greater anxiety in hospitalized adult patients with COVID-19 (M = 14.44), compared to adult patients with COVID-19 discharged from the hospital (M = 4.58). , added to a large non-parametric effect size (>0.8 = Large), (d = 4.08). Alternative hypotheses are also accepted in the sociodemographic variables, where the female sex has greater anxiety about the disease compared to the male. In addition, adulthood presents greater anxiety about the disease compared to young people. In addition, patients who have a loved one diagnosed and/or deceased by COVID-19 similarly present greater anxiety about the disease. Therefore, the information obtained could be used by health professionals to more accurately identify those patients who require more intensive mental care.
