One of the most demanding tasks of the leaders of organizations is decision-making, on which depends a whole structure that includes processes and people. This research seeks to show how decision makers can find in the engineering approach and in the Weibull Distribution tool a process that supports decision making. Within this context, a new decision-making process could be implemented using the Weibull Distribution tool to calculate the impact of an improvement decision in an organization; decreasing the degree of risk of the decision. It has been proposed to carry out an investigation that allows to show the case under study the need for an improved decision making process and for this we will use the Weibull distribution. The proposed methodology incorporates the optimized fault history management and parameters of the Weibull distribution into the current decision making to obtain the average time to fail and be able to calculate costs necessary to value the benefit. Being our main objective to determine the benefit of the use of the Weibull distribution in the improvement of the decision making process, the main result was that the improved decision-making process gives us more benefits; as that of allowing to value costs and benefits of an improvement implemented. Concluding that with the use of the Weibull distribution in decision making we obtain more accurate and reliable results in a scenario where we have information for statistical analysis.
