The present investigation of Thesis “Analysis of the Behavior of an Asphalt Mix Modified with SBS Betutec IC Polymers and a Conventional Asphalt Mixture 60/70“ is a work in which the mechanical behavior, performance of both mixtures are compared and analyzed as the incorporation of Polymers to a conventional asphalt improve the mechanical properties of the same, bringing as consequence the extension of the useful life of the pavement. Known is that in most roads in Peru are used conventional asphalt mixtures with different types of PEN depending on the geographical area, we know that we have 03 well marked regions in our territory, for the present investigation we will take as a standard conventional asphalt mixture PEN 60/70, and the improvement represented by using a modified mixture with SBS polymers, in this case Betutec IC, will be demonstrated with laboratory tests. (For our research we have considered a percentage of polymers of 3.5%, according to the work experience). Different percentages of polymers can be used, depending on the structural design of the pavement giving emphasis on the flexibility and durability that is desired. We proceeded with the design of flexible mix with both asphalt liquid with polymers and with conventional asphalt liquid (PEN 60/70), under the same conditions same gradation and same aggregates were made, only modifying the asphalt liquid for each design until obtaining the optimum of each design, to mold the samples that will be submitted to the different performance tests that will serve to demonstrate the mechanical behavior of the asphalt mixtures under study. The most common problems that occur in asphalt mixtures are the resistance to permanent deformation, also called rutting or rutting, so laboratory tests were performed that allowed us to determine when analyzing our designs how susceptible they are to these problems.
