The present research project “Application of the circle of DEMING to optimize the activity of BLASTING in grain JIMENA of COMPAÑÍA MINERA PODEROSA S.A.“ was founded as an alternative to improve the activity of blasting, development and exploitation of the mining process threads; being of utmost importance for the work of advance footage and obtaining the ore (gold). The proposal of this project focuses on applying the methodology of problem solving in seven steps - “Circle of Deming“ within which nine quality tools is used to achieve feasible results in three factors of importance for the company: quality (cost reduction), environment (reduction of envelope break)and safety (accidents reduction). The development of the project begins with the formation of a circle of continuous improvement (CMC) comprised of 7 members within it supervisors and administrative staff of mine Area of Compañía Minera Poderosa S.A. and J&S Contratistas Generales S.R.L. The first step of the methodology is to identify the problem, using the brainstorming, affinity and prioritization matrix diagram; the second step is to understand the current situation and set goals, use of lines diagrams, histograms. The third step, is the plan of activities using Gantt chart; the fourth step, is to identify and analyze the causes using Pareto Ishikawa diagram; the fifth step, consider and implement countermeasures is obtained by using the tool 5W + 1 H; the sixth step focuses on verifying the results obtained; and finally, The seventh step, standardization where the distribution of the explosive charge and the mesh design of drilling with blasting design, is standardized as well as also the standardized safe controlled blasting work procedure; to make the project sustainable in time. As result of the project is achieved the reduction of cost by 19% (saving $22.00 per shot) in work of 3.5 x 3 meters section advance on ramps (RA) and 2.5 x 2.5 meters in Gallery section (GL) reduces the cost 16% (savings of $41.00 per shot); and in exploitation (pits) work gets a saving of 17 %($17.00 per shot). The percentage of envelope decreases break to 11%, decreasing accidents through rock to 5 slight accidents and is achieved to improve the standards of quality and safety with the formalization of the PETS of controlled blasting.
