Water losses through seepage reduce the transport efficiency of an irrigation canal. Based on studies found for the development of the research, methods were found to seek to reduce these water losses. From methods to determine them such as the Faipa method, hydraulic designs of the structure in the case of the Piuro canal, to the improvement of the Potrerillos farmhouse canal using a concrete lining. In this research, it was sought to carry out the hydraulic design of the Miguel Checa channel to reduce the filtration problems that the channel presents. Likewise, carry out the dimensioning of the cross section, compare own analyzes with the results of the HCANALES software, determine the water losses due to filtration and the structural evaluation of the system. For the design, criteria established by Ven Te Chow and the National Water Authority were followed, and the other, through the HCANALES software. The results were compared in both cases, and it was possible to reduce the loss of water by filtration to 0.07% with the proposed design. With the results obtained during the development of the research, it was possible to meet the objectives set and conclude that both hydraulic design proposals were feasible.
