ABSTRACT This research aimed at finding the similarity between “Maternal Attitudes in Women with Children with Down Syndrome and Women with Children with Intellectual Disability (ID) “ in the town of Cajamarca. For this purpose, the comparative descriptive design was used. The population consisted of 20 mothers with children with Down syndrome and 20 mothers with children with Intellectual disability (ID) belonging to the institutions: Center for Special Basic Education (CEBE) and the Union Down Organization. Robert Roth's Attitudes Scale of Mother-Child Relationship was used, concluding that there similarities in maternal attitudes as both groups show results of positive attitudes. However, in the dimensions of maternal attitudes scale, prevails the area of Acceptance in mothers with children with Down syndrome; while in the area of Overprotection, mothers with children with Intellectual Disability predominate.
