The objective of this research was to describe the main environmental elements that degrade the reinforced concrete in columns of the initial educational center N° 124, Lambayeque; therefore, the value of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO ) at the study site and the description of the most relevant meteorological variables was identified, as well as the application of standardized standards UNE EN - 14630: 2006, UNE 112011, NTP 339.059. 2011, NTP 339.034: 2013, which through tests on concrete cores allows to identify the presence of CO 2 and resistance to axial compression. From the results it was observed that the concrete cores extracted from the columns are affected by the atmospheric CO 2 2 , together with the environmental variables of the place that provide the conditions for their degradation. Concluding that in 10 years of construction of this educational center, the columns of reinforced concrete are affected by carbonation, product of the loss of alkalinity and in addition to the reduction of the resistance to axial compression, leading to a low durability over time of the structure.
