At the organizational level, people have always played an important role in the development of companies, above all because of the valuable contribution they make through their work. The present research estimated as a general objective, to determine the relation between motivation and work performance of the employees of the human talent management department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima 2020. The type of research was basic, quantitative in focus, correlational in level and its design has been non-experimental in nature. The population under study was constituted by 60 collaborators, with a non probabilistic sample for convenience, integrated by 20 collaborators among coordinators, assistants and administrative assistants. The technique applied was the survey and the instrument used was the questionnaire, which was validated by teaching experts and submitted to Aiken's test V, resulting applicable and; for reliability, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was used, whose result was 0.962, which meant a high statistical reliability. Finally, it was determined that there is a very strong positive relationship between motivation and work performance of the employees of the human talent management department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima 2020, demonstrated through a Spearman test, with a correlation coefficient of 0.802 and a significance level of 0.000, which clearly indicates that adequate management of motivation generates greater work performance.
