ABSTRACT The main objective of the present investigation is to evaluate the optimum percentage of addition of micro silica obtained from the rice husk ash applied to the concrete in the fresh and hardened condition. To assess the optimal percentage of rice husk ash addition, it was first proposed to design a reference mixture which was called the masterbatch, which was designed according to the ACI 211 committee. Before defining the standard design, the aggregates were characterized as granulometry (NTP 400.012), moisture content (NTP 339.185), absorption (NTP 400.022), specific weight (NTP 400.021) and unit weight (NTP 400.017). These aggregates were brought from the quarry “Calderón“ located in the Milagro. Once the tests were carried out due to the aggregates, according to Peruvian technical standards, the pattern mixture was designed. As an improved concrete for columns and beams is desired, a concrete mix of 280 kg/cm², with a settling of 7.6 cm - 10 cm (3 “- 4“) and an a / c ratio of 0.54 was designed. After obtaining the design of the masterbatch it was decided to use the percentages from 1% to 10% of rice husk ash, adding it to the mixture with respect to the weight of the cement, in order to obtain a detailed study on how it behaves The ash against the concrete both in the fresh state (settlement) and in the hardened state (resistance to compression, absorption and unit weight). To obtain the micro silica from the rice husk it was first necessary to calcine the husk of rice in a gas oven at a temperature between 400° and 600 ° C, then obtained the ash was placed in a mill by hand In order to reduce the size of the ash, the ash was subsequently placed in a ball mill and finally to obtain a micro size, the ash was sieved in mesh No. 325 (0.045) and No. 400 (0.03 mm). This was how the micro silica was obtained from the rice husk ash. The use of the superplasticizer (EUCO 37) was used because, as the different percentages of ash were added, the drier the mixture was obtained. The 1% supercriticaliser was added to the blend with respect to the weight of the cement and the settling, the 28 day compressive strength, the absorption and the unit weight were evaluated. Maximum strength was 376 kg/cm² at 6% ash addition increasing by 27% with respect to the standard test specimens. As for the settlement with the 6% of addition a good, plastic and workable mixture was obtained. As for the absorption, at 6% of addition a low absorption was obtained, and as for the unit weight the highest unit weight reached by the concrete was at 6% of ash addition.
