The study has the title “Sound pollution in points of greater vehicular traffic in the urban area of the city of Cajamarca, in the year 2017“, the interest in this issue arises from the fact that currently the noise pollution is a type of alteration to the ambient; In addition, it is a problem that is present worldwide; and our city is not alien to it. Therefore, the general objective was to determine the level of noise pollution at points of greatest vehicular traffic in the urban area of the city of Cajamarca, in the year 2017; in order to demonstrate if the level of noise pollution exceeds the Environmental Quality Standards for noise, established by the Ministry of the Environment in 2003. Seven points were identified and monitored in morning and afternoon shifts taking into account the zones of: special protection, residential and commercial, mainly, The study is not experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional and to prove if the hypothesis was true the t-student distribution test was used, with which it obtained a value of p <0.05, They acquired the results after performing 12 to 14 measurements at each point and each shift. Finally, it is concluded that: The noise ECAs establish the 50 dB limit for the special protection zone, obtaining as a result of the monitoring a general average of 72.9 for the P5 that was located in the mentioned zone. In the residential area, the limit is 60 dB, in which, as indicated above, points P3 and P4 were located; Averages of 66.6 and 69.8 dB were obtained. As for the commercial zone, the ECA establishes a limit of 70 dB, but it was shown through monitori ng that the measurements are at 73.5, 74.4 and 71.7 dB at points P1, P6 and P7 respectively.
