The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between addiction to social networks and self-esteem in high school students from a private educational institution in North Lima. The design was non-experimental and descriptive-correlational. The sample consisted of 216 students of both sexes between 12 and 16 years old, the following instruments were applied: Questionnaire on Addiction to Social Networks (ARS - 6) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR). Among the most relevant findings, an inverse and highly significant correlation was found between the variables of addiction to social networks and self-esteem (rho = -. 228, p = .001). It was also found that 64.8% of the population has a regular level of addiction to social networks, 18.5% use it occasionally, 11.1% have a risky use and only 5.6% have a problematic use, with respect to self-esteem 52.7% presents a moderate level, 30.6% a low level and 16.7% present a high level. Likewise, no significant differences were found in social media addiction (U = 5581.500; p = 0.611) and self-esteem (U = 5135.500; p = 0.134) according to the sex condition.
