This research thesis was developed with the purpose of explaining the influence of the phreatic level on the behavior of the soils of the Sector of The Cortijo Bajo - North, in the district of Victor Larco Herrera, in 2018. In addition to studying the influence of the groundwater level on the bearing capacity of the soil, a study was also developed in which the physical and chemical properties of the area mentioned above are detailed. To identify and evaluate the Water Level, it was necessary to use a survey in the study area, which was carried out by means of the excavation of pits and the characterization of the collected samples. This process was based on the consideration of Technical Standard E 0.50 of the National Building Regulations. The groundwater levels identified in study areas 01, 02 and 03; They were 1.60 m., 1.50 m. and 1.20m. of depth, respectively. Having done the aforementioned, it can be affirmed that the predominant soil class in The Cortijo Bajo Sector – North, are the sands. The moisture content of these soils exceeds 31%, reaching a maximum of 40% humidity. Regarding the values obtained after carrying out the plastic tests, it was possible to determine that none of the pits excavated in each study area have liquid limit (LL) and plastic limit (LP); being able to affirm that the floors analyzed are not plastic. The chemical tests carried out were: determination of pH, sulfate content, chloride content and content of soluble salts; which allowed to know that none of the areas studied is affected by any chemical agent. As for the mechanical properties; The Direct Cutting Test allowed to determine the values of the shear stress, the angle of friction and the cohesion of the soil. Based on these results, the angle of friction was taken as parameter, and the bearing capacity of the soil in The Cortijo Bajo Sector – North; was determined, applying the Terzaghi Theory. This theory was applied to soils with and without the influence of water table, resulting in soil without influence of water table; In both Zone 01 - 02 - 03, the average values of the bearing capacity were 1.07 Kg/cm2 - 1.00 Kg/cm2 - 0.93 Kg/cm2, respectively. While in soils with influence of water table, the average values obtained suffered a decrease to 0.95 Kg/cm2 - 0.87 Kg/cm2 - 0.77 Kg/cm2, both for Zone 01 - 02 - 03. Finally, it is concluded that the phreatic level has a detrimental influence on the soils of The Cortijo Bajo Sector - North, altering the physical and mechanical properties of the soils; which leads to a condition in the structures of that sector; being these short, medium and / or long term.
