ABSTRACT The present research work consists in the application of the PCI (Paviment Condition Index) methodology in the diagnosis of the flexible pavement of section 3 of the Interoceanic Highway North Peru - Brazil, located between the Departments of San Martín and Amazonas; with the purpose of determine the surface deterioration of the pavement based on the existing damages. The evaluation process was developed in two stages, the first corresponding to the field work and the second to the cabinet. The road under study has a length of 22 kilometers, which was divided into 880 sampling units and grouped into 22 sections of 1 kilometer. The field work consisted of traversing the road and identifying the faults, their degree of severity and extent, which was recorded in the data collection format. Once the inspection of the road was completed, the cabinet work was carried out to determine the PCI Index of each pavement section. The results after the evaluation show that, of the 22 pavement sections inspected, 41% have a pavement classified as Good, 32% have a Very Good rating, 22% classify as Regular pavement and 4% are in state Excellent. In addition, the faults with the highest level of influence were: longitudinal and transversal cracks, patches and service connections, rail / berm, ravine and edge cropping. Finally, the PCI index of the track was 64 with a standard deviation of ± 13, which was determined by averaging the PCI of all sections of the pavement, which concludes that the pavement of the track is in a Conservation status between Good and Regular.
