The present research work aimed to determine the relationship between self-esteem and addiction to social networks in psychology students from a private university. The methodology is characterized by being a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design and a descriptive correlational scope. The type of sampling selected is intentional non-probabilistic, the sample being made up of 357 students. The instruments used were the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) adult version and the Escurra y Salas Social Media Addiction Questionnaire (ARS). Due to the current health crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, data collection is given through a virtual questionnaire and the data analysis is processed in the SPSS statistical software version IBM-26, the tests of Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Spearman's parametric test, respectively. The results indicate that there is a low and inverse significant relationship (rho -0.37) between the study variables. This means that the greater the construction and development of self-esteem, the less likely there is addiction to social networks in the students who were part of this study.
