Alcohol consumption is a cause of 5.3% of deaths worldwide and the diagnosis of various psychophysiological disorders, which brings with it an alteration in the personal and social appearance of the person. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to establish the relationship between alcohol consumption and self-esteem in 83 students from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade of Tongod high school, for which a research methodology with a quantitative approach, level correlational-descriptive and basic type, using the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and the Copersmith Self-Esteem Inventory - school form, which allowed us to recognize an inverse and significant relationship between the variables (𝑟��������ℎ𝑜�������� = −,300 𝑝�������� < .01), as well as a predominance of dependent consumption (50.6%) and an average level of self-esteem (92.8%). Which leads us to conclude that as self-esteem levels increase, an increase in alcohol consumption is also evidenced.
