ABSTRACT Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Load and Emission Cost Evaluation, by reducing the time of cleaning of Giant blade in Minera Yanacocha, 2017. Thesis of Mining Engineer. Faculty of Engineering, Universidad Privada del Norte. 95 pages. Due to the fact that currently the mining sector seeks to optimize performance, reduce times, give greater precision, optimize production costs and minimize environmental aspects and impacts, the objective of the present investigation was to reduce operating costs and the emission of gases in the cargo area in an open-pit mine by reducing the blade floor cleaning time. The study was developed in two phases: field and cabinet. In the field phase we worked on the giant shovel loading area and in DISPATCH room where the times were determined, and the amount of pollutant gases emitted by the wheel tractor responsible for the floor cleaning. The time was analyzed with MYSRL database, taking control from 2013 to 2017, in which the alternative procedure of floor cleaning was applied since June 2016. After applying the alternative blade floor cleaning procedure, the time for this operation was reduced from 500 seconds to 400 seconds per hour, hence, operating costs were reduced by approximately $180000 per month and an approximate. $2,160,000 per year. KEYWORDS: operating costs, load, blade floor cleaning, contaminating gases.
