In times of gender equality, women have begun a process of participation similar to that of men in social, academic and professional life. Journalism does not escape this phenomenon of freedom, especially opinion journalism where a forceful development of women is evident: as an expert and leader. However, sports journalism in Peru has diminished this balance and continues to be characterized by machismo and the lack of opportunities for women journalists: not only as an image, but as professionals and experts capable of generating opinion, debate and reflection. That is why this research seeks to reflect the perception of the role of women in sports journalism developed in Radio Exitosa, a media outlet with national coverage, through its program Exitosa Deportes (which is characterized by a marked difference between the roles of men and women in leading the space that is transmitted by radio and social networks, and that leads to a distortion of the importance of women in generating opinion, typical of these spaces). Although the journalism expert Edward Alva considers that women do play the same role as men, such as: informing, commenting, analyzing data and debating transcendental issues with their peers. These are diminished by the context in which they materialize. For this reason, it will be determined what type of perception predominates regarding the role of women in the sports program Successful Sports, for which the visual, auditory and social perception of the image, discourse and professional and human performance of the women who participate will be taken into account. appear in space as conductors. For this, data collection instruments will be applied such as: the focus group, (applied to radio listeners), Direct observation (reactions and comments of followers of the program through social networks - Facebook / of the program, broadcast on the radio, reason for study: image, speech and human and professional development of its drivers) and interview (with a journalist and driver specialized in sports journalism. This research is qualitative - descriptive and is relevant because it shows that women who practice sports journalism are vulnerable and are exposed to discriminatory and sexist situations; and reflects the lack of commitment of the media to provide spaces for human and professional development for women journalists and to educate the audience, since, although the sport that prevails in this type of space is soccer, it is not of interest and exclusive development, from journalism, of men. It concludes that the public that consumes the sports journalism program Successful Sports, perceives a lower image of women, compared to men (co-hosts), and that they are not valued for their professionalism, but for their figure (stereotype) as an element audience attraction. However, there is hope: some followers of the program and interviewed specialists believe that it will only be a matter of time before the condition of women is improved and they are allowed to develop professional and expert profiles and that, they say, will depend on the medium of communication.
