The Cajamarca - San Juan road section Km 150 + 00 + 0.00 - Km 143 + 00 + 0.00, is one of the main routes that communicates Cajamarca Ciudad de Dios is used for the transport of passengers as well as merchandise, however it is one of the roads with an insecurity due to accidents, that is why the present thesis aims to “Evaluate the elements of the Cajamarca - San Juan highway section Km 150 + 00 + 0.00 - Km 143 + 00 + 0.00 according to their geometric characteristics and current signaling ”, to develop the objective we carried out a traffic study, topographic survey, analysis of the characteristics of the geometric design of the road and then compared it with the manual of road geometric design, DG-2018-MTC and the control devices traffic; and in this way present a real representation of the current situation of the evaluated road in order for this study to serve as a background for future improvement projects. The topography survey has been carried out in detail, this allowed us to determine a rugged topography, in addition the vehicle count gave us an IMDA of 992 veh / day which we were on a second class road, with the information and the DG-2018- MTC the design speed of 50 km / h was determined. Next, the analysis of the geometric characteristics obtained was carried out both in plan (minimum radius and tangent sections), as well as in profile (vertical curves) and cross sections. Finally, it was verified that the section Km 150 + 00 + 0.00 - Km 143 + 00 + 0.00, does not comply with certain parameters of geometric design, radii 29.41%, sections in tangent 72.73%, superelevations 57.14%, widening 85.29% and width 42.88% of carriageway, so it is concluded that the section is unsafe, due to the high risk of accidents; As an alternative solution, it is proposed to send a report to the MTC / CAJ and thus improve road safety.
