The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the early maladaptive scheme - abandonment and self-esteem levels in 108 mothers of pre-school children of a State Educational Institution in Comas. The instruments used were the questionnaire of schemes, Young Chema Questionnaire-Long Form, 2nd Edition and the scala of self-esteem of Rosenberg. The results indicate that there is a significant and inverse correlation between the variables the early maladaptive scheme and self-esteem (r = -0.276 **, p = 0.004), likewise self-esteem levels found in the sample report that 51.9% have moderate self-esteem, which means that they have an adequate self-esteem, 27.8% have low self-esteem and only 20.4% have high self-esteem. Regarding the prevailing ages in which there is the presence of the maladaptive scheme in mothers of children in pre-school age, the results were the ages of 22 years with 66.6%, following the 33,34,38,42 and 43 years with a 50% each respectively. It is concluded that a greater predominance of the early maladaptive scheme - abandonment of lower self-esteem in mothers of pre-school children of a State Educational Institution in Comas.
