ABSTRACT Currently all companies, without exception, are looking for ways to reduce their operating costs, one of the key points for this purpose is to look for alternative and reliable sources of energy. In most production processes, not to mention all, electric energy is the source of energy that is present directly or indirectly for the operation of machinery and equipment, whatever the origin of the industry. Therefore, having an alternative energy source has become one of the main objectives of the companies, being Kimberly Clark one of these companies. Then the question arises: how can we improve the costs of electricity? Among the alternatives, we currently have, we have the generators that run on internal combustion engines with gaseous alternative fuels, which are highly requested for their current availability, price and are less polluting than liquid fuels, which are Natural Gas, LPG, Digester Gas, to mention a few. Having this need, the Kimberly Clark Company opted for the acquisition of a 2000kW generator set to Gas Natural of the “Cummins Power Generation“ brand. The intention of the present work is to provide the fundamental guidelines for the installation of a Generator Set based on the manufacturer's recommendations and under the legal regulations of the country so that the equipment can operate in an optimal way in the commissioning and throughout its useful life. All stages of the project are: Design, Installation, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance. In this work, only the stage of Installation Design will be detailed. Finally, it was possible to determine that the operating cost of generating electricity with a Natural Gas Generating Group is cheaper than consuming from the local concessionaire.
